After the area around Alice Springs undoubtedly the highlight of the Outback was, we had to Coober Pedy still a remarkable stop before we reached the Australian south coast. The city that describes itself as Australian Opalhauptstadt did what they promised.
Cooper Pedy
We also tried our luck at the opal fields. Besides quartz boulders but nothing was found (at least not in the first 5 minutes, then passed the initial pleasure), so we climbed back into the Greuhound, some 24 hours after we had come. Coober Pedy, Wow!
After another night ride we reached Adelaide! Somehow I had the name of the city in my life have heard a few times, a big city with suspected :-) Very nice atmosphere were definitely our couch surfers, Kirrabelle and Neal, where we stayed for three nights. Neal was unfortunately quite ill, always kept his neck and looked very weak - in the capital of swine flu itself felt a little queasy at the ....
saw Contrary to our assumptions, we are but no one with a face mask, and overall has been in Australia probably now always enforced the view that resistance is futile - the flu is just not yet so wild, people here say, and not always stop them. How is the situation in Germany? The best in Adelaide I think is a market hall with lots of cafes, bakeries and Mediterranean delicacy. There, we met our Bermuda-Girl Melissa randomly again, man, Australia is small!
interesting also the Franzoesischabend to the Kirrabelle we took. Kirra and Neal are both teachers - and now there are even teachers couples who are younger than we really corrosive. In any case, Kirra always goes to a weekly Franzoesischrunde, when Sandra and I auffiehlen then pleasant, because we wanted to speak French. The Australians had a few sentences the pleasure passed, and the simplicity they spoke English again ... strange! By the way, lives Kirras Twin sister in Berlin - and her brother also just drags on. Where else? The world is too small ...
The Greyhound was booked for holidays started and we had to stay one day longer than planned. We went again feasting on the market and the Botanical Garden of Adelaide, we have seen, is quite interesting. Very green, many plants are here, Surprisingly.
