Leaving Australia - Melbourne and Sydney

the end of our adventure 'Down Under' there was still the inevitable Staedteduell "Melbourne vs. Sydney!

Melbourne
Approximately 3 million inhabitants, and the breath of a Grand Slam tournament. Everything we knew not about Melbourne, the second to last city on our list. Many Australians had been duly warned us that it was the coolest city with much culture and interesting people.

interesting in any case (again) our couch surfers, this time a young German-Canadian couple, Yvonne and Carlo. Two people who were fully dedicated to traveling, and the rest of her life in order that full. Carlo is also trying just to work as a travel writer, and wrote tirelessly about the various aspects of the Backpack travel and the discovery of the last corners of this planet. So wonderful evening occurred in the deep red wine and talks about the usual concerns of world travelers, for example, "one can only draw to the end of the world if you have any friends or family" or something .... very refreshing! In the front garden of the two other countless possums living on the trees, a mixture of squirrel and monkey.
They live in St. Kilda, a well-famous town, a former jet-set, right on the beach. There we have seen in an evening walk free penguins, incredibly cute ... The penguins live there under the big stones that will protect the port. The district is trendy, alternative, therefore, something like Prenzlauer Berg tiny. Even better was Fitzroy, a larger alternative district adjacent to the downtown skyscrapers (see picture) that tastes more like to Kreuzberg. Many nice shops, and Guitar Player in the street, the Bob Dylan song and rewrite the lyrics then bring donation to the pedestrians, and such.
Our favorite place was then still in St. Kilda, "Leroy" has made us in three days, three times Long Black. Then we went further and also the direction of "A Streetcar Named Sydney," the last night drive, Ole!

Sydney
We have spent the last four days back at Lauren, our first couch surfer. What to report news? We searched in Sydney to districts such as St Kilda and Fitzroy, and found none. Although Newtown at least ever sounds good, in our opinion to Melbourne in terms of "cool and interesting areas for living, going out and showing" the nose near the front. Even the red-light district around Kings Cross could not change that, but perhaps only because we were there during the day to say, difficult. In any case, we would rather have a couple of months than in S. M. spend, if the question would arise!
One day we took Lauren to the famous and infamous Blue Mountains. Looks like a great Steinzeitsee without water, or even a giant crater. We were three or four hours a run down and up, and Lauren was decent at the swearing - they thought we wanted to travel only by car to the lookout point and drink a hot chocolate! Of course, far from it. The Blue Mountains were beautiful, but honestly, we found it a little boring. I think after the many natural wonders we may have had an overdose?

have super-friendly manner and her friend Lauren Franco but we still thoroughly cooked and finally driven to the airport, on to New Zealand!
We are definitely looking forward to the next few weeks: Three weeks Zealand, Fiji then 10 days, one week New Zealand, a week, Singapore, Malaysia, and then slowly back to late summer in the German ...
